EDDIE "ELVIS" MILLER TAKES RUNNER UP IN HOT ROD MAGAZINE'S

PUMP GAS DRAGS IN MEMPHIS ON 5/12/06 WITH 159.48 MPH IN 8.559 SECS.!!!

Ed Miller & his 1973 "Purple" Plymouth Duster with it's "Big Bad Green" 537 engine of TheEngineWorks.com was chosen as 1 of "only" 50 in the world to compete in an invitational annual Pump Gas Drag Race that is put on by Hot Rod Magazine.  The event started out at Comp Cams in Memphis Tennessee on Friday 5/12/06 where all the competitors & their cars gathered for a drive through 5:00 traffic to get to the track to see whose got the WORLD'S FASTEST PUMP GAS STREET CAR! ! !

Ed had a lot of struggles with the car prior to the date of this event. Thanks to the guys at the shop- (Glenn-Johnny-Max) & The X-(Dee) for putting up with him-not too mention the numerous acquaintances on the forums & message boards that have helped out with their input and even their time such as one guy Randy driving all the way up from Ft. Lauderdale to Port St. Lucie to help out with the car the weekend before the race he wouldn't have made it there-so THANKS!!!

Ed left on Wednesday 5/10/06 with his 11 year old daughter (Katie) and 2 of his friends (Ralph & J.P.)

On the way they stopped in Gainesville-Florida on Wednesday 5/10/06  to test out the car and then continued their drive to Memphis-Tennessee to arrive for Test & Tune on Thursday night 5/11/06.

Friday 5/12/06 at Comp Cams everyone and their cars gathered and headed for the track.

The idea was to prove the car was not only street legal but able to make the drive to the track without any difficulties.  No one was allowed to work on their cars on the drive over or they were disqualified.

They made it to the track without any troubles as expected and clicked off fastest times in qualifying with a 8.78 @ 153.8 putting Eddie "ELVIS" Miller in the #1 Qualifier position.

They made it round for round and when another friend of Ed's (Eric-from Eric's Automotive in Vero Beach-Florida) had unfortunate problems with his car putting him out of the race he continued to help in Ed's efforts in getting to the finish line.

Ed took runner up in the last round with 159.48 mph in 8.559 seconds.  Not Bad!!! You made us proud ELVIS!!!  There's always next year if they invite you back...
